AI page co-pilot
Turn a bio, a product list or a caption dump into a page plan - headline, bio, link order and a four-step week - with xAI or the built-in planner, then apply it.
3 min readUpdated Oct 17, 2026Applies to LinkNest 1.0.0
The co-pilot turns whatever a creator already has (an old bio, a caption dump, a bullet list of what they sell) into a concrete plan for their page, and can apply part of it with one click. It is a form, not a chat.
Who can use it
The Co-pilot screen opens when the plan includes the copilot key, which Pro and Premium include as created by the migrations. The server checks the key too, before a run, when reading usage and before applying a plan. Each page can run the co-pilot 40 times in total; see Usage cap.
Running it
- Open Co-pilot in the studio.
- Fill in any of the three boxes:
- a bio, caption dump or bullet list of what you offer (up to 4,000 characters are used);
- products, one per line or comma-separated (up to 1,000 characters);
- an Instagram profile or story URL (optional). If the first box is empty, the current bio is used.
- Choose Generate plan.
The result shows where it came from (xAI or On-device) and:
| Part | What it is |
|---|---|
| Headline | A one-line summary of the plan |
| Bio | A suggested bio of up to 160 characters |
| CTA order | The order to put the main links in |
| Links | Up to 7 suggested links, each with a reason and a kind (web, product or booking) |
| This week | Four dated actions, such as "Mon: pin the top link and share the page once" |
| Notes | Two to four tips |
Applying a plan
Apply bio + link shells saves the suggested bio and adds up to 6 of the suggested links that the page does not already have (matched by title). The new links point at a bare https:// so the creator fills in the real addresses: the co-pilot never invents destinations. Home flags any link still without a real URL.
The other button previews the suggested bio without saving it.
The CTA order, weekly plan and notes are advice; nothing applies them automatically.
With and without xAI
With XAI_API_KEY |
Without it | |
|---|---|---|
| Who writes the plan | xAI's grok-4-1-fast-non-reasoning model, asked for the plan as JSON |
A built-in rule-based planner on your server |
| How it reads the input | Freely: tone, audience, what to lead with | Lines from your paste become link ideas; words such as "book", "call" or "session" make a booking link, "shop", "buy", "merch" or "drop" make a product link; each product line becomes a product link |
| Instagram URL | Passed to the model as text | Noted in a tip |
| If the call fails | Falls back to the built-in planner without an error | Not applicable |
The result label says On-device for the built-in planner, although it runs on your server. Neither path fetches the Instagram URL or any other page. AI models and providers covers what is sent to xAI and what it costs.
Usage cap
Every run (with or without xAI) adds one to the page's copilot_runs counter, and a page that reaches 40 gets "Co-pilot demo cap reached". The counter never resets and is the same on every plan. The screen shows it as "Demo cap 12/40".
To change the cap, edit COPILOT_CAP in src/lib/grove/copilot.ts. To reset one page:
update profiles set copilot_runs = 0 where username = 'kaysun';Every run is also saved, with its input and result, in the copilot_plans table. There is no screen for past plans in 1.0.0.
